Scientech Meter Accessories

External Serial Cable and Adapter

The 6-pin DIN connector was not specifically dedicated to a single purpose. One which has been implemented provides recording of measurements. Reference must be made to two existing projects:

1. The Universal Transmitter is described in the RF Data Communications section. Because it was designed for, and is still used sometimes with, projects which use Picaxe micro-controllers, adaption ts required for use with Arduino micro-controllers. They have idle high, whereas Picaxe has idle low. The noisy 433 MHz band prompts the use of a 20ms pulse, 10ms before the serial output starts. In picaxe projects, this pulse is generated by the same pin as the serial output, but Arduino micro-controllers do not permit this. This required employing a second pin, which used to be reserved for analog input, and a gate. No changes were required for the cable or the Universal Transmitter.

2. The OLED Logger receives, displays, and records the messages transmitted by the Universal Transmitter. No hardware or software changes were required, and it continues to receive from other projects as well.
